10th Anniversary of The Jan-Ai Scholarship Fund
Greetings Family, Friends & Supporters of the Jan-Ai Scholarship Fund
On this day, March 20, Jennifer would have been 36 years old. We miss her and hold her in our hearts.
We have accomplished much in the past ten years. As of this date, $134,786 has been awarded to 342 young adults. We are close to reaching our goal of $160,000, and this is all due to you, our generous donors. We are still asking for donations, so please continue to think of us and help these young adults follow their passions in the arts.
We hope to add another 30-40 recipients to the growing roster.
In these last 10 years, we've also given back to our community. The ARC of Atlantic County received $400 for art supplies, as did Covenant House ($500). Jazz 4 Kidz received $300 for their students and to support their program. The Elke Hirsh Music award was created to honor Elke’s memory, and an additional award was given this past January as part of “The Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway” weekend held at Seaview Stockton University Campus.
We are very proud and hope you also take personal pride in these accomplishments. As such, the Board of Trustees has made a weighty decision, and it is with heavy hearts that we announce it. At the end of the year, the Jan-Ai Scholarship Fund will cease to exist. This decision was not made lightly. In reality it was never meant to go on in perpetuity. We feel that we have exceeded our expectations and that Jennifer would be extremely proud of what we have accomplished to honor her memory.
Our Board members, past and present, deserve accolades for all of their work in making our nonprofit a success. To all the volunteers, we sincerely thank you for being part of this grand endeavor. To our past recipients, we urge you to continue to follow your dreams and pay it forward.
But most of all, it was only through your generous donations that we were able to touch so many lives. Please, take the time to scroll down the years, starting in 2007, to see their names; just click on the “Scholarships Award” link down below.
